icon2The Vermont Autism Task Force, a non-governmental grassroots committee of volunteers interested in improving services and supports for individuals with ASD and their families, recruits on an annual basis in the spring. We welcome new members who want to make a difference!
Membership in the Vermont Autism Task Force is open to adults on the spectrum, parents/family members of individuals on the spectrum and professionals who serve either individuals with ASD or families of individuals on the spectrum. Adults on the spectrum can request to join at any time of the year. New parent/family member and professional members are recruited in the spring.

Meeting Information

The first meeting for new members is the annual retreat, which is held in September in Montpelier. Members, including new members, decide the course of action for the year at the Retreat. The Retreat is usually held the second or third Friday in September. Thereafter, meetings will be held the second Friday of every month from October to June from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm in Berlin. Members attend at least 4 meetings per year and actively participate in a subcommittee.

How to join:

Adults on the spectrum: please send us your letter of interest letting us know that you are interested in joining and any other information you would like to share with us. Adults can request to join at any time of the year.
Parents/Family members of individuals on the spectrum: please send your letter of interest and a resume (if you have one). Recruitment for family members is once a year in the spring. Please see deadline below.
Professionals who work with individuals with autism: or have autism expertise: please send your resume and letter of interest. Recruitment for professionals is once a year in the spring. Please see deadline below.

Next Recruitment Open Spring 2017

Recruitment is now closed for the 2016-17 year, but interested people are always welcome to attend any monthly meetings as an observer. Please note: Adults on the spectrum are welcome to join any time.

If you are interested in volunteering with a great group of people, please send your information to VATF chairs via email. Helpful information includes telling us about your experience with autism (as an adult on the spectrum, parenting, work experience, volunteer work or advocacy), your availability on the second Friday of the month (when we meet) and why you are interested in joining. We vote on new members at our June meeting. Although we can’t accept everyone who wishes to join, we seek diversity in the way of life experiences and encourage those who are interested to apply. Please enter “ATF Membership” on the subject line of your email.
